Growing up, I was an avid PBS watcher. From Ken Burns to Nova, there was never a shortage of incredible public television in our household. As an aspiring documentarian, I hope to educate through a medium that I think has the ability to capture a wider audience just as those shows had done for me. The mixture of written, musical, and visual content is a package that speaks to my interests while engaging in my want to connect with the world and connect others.
Kyoto: History Through Travel
(2024)
In an homage to travel documentaries of the 90s, World Piece Puzzle aims to bring educational content with a relaxing atmosphere in counteraction to typical fast-cut media of today. I work as writer, producer, photographer, and editor on this ongoing project.
THE MODEL MINORITY MYTH - ORIGINS AND LAST EFFECTS
(2024)
Based off an academic paper written in the fall of '24, I always imagined the product as a video essay, more fleshed out and easier to approach. In it, I not only discuss the historical origins of the model minority myth but give context to modern events through its rise in mass media. Written, recorded, and edited by myself.
The Campus Haunting
(2023)
With the original objective of this project being a depiction of a sort of "haunting" on a college campus, I worked together with a team to produce this work. In our preproduction sessions, we came across multiple stories of the encounters and fears young women have across campuses nationwide. Armed with this information, we began work on this short film that aims to shed light on these fears in a way that didn't inherently depict any violence or physical harm.
With a focus on the universality in which these kinds of scenarios occur, a decision was made to feature very little dialogue, as well as a concerted effort to not reveal the faces of our main characters. In this, we prioritized the action and overall tone to give a sense of reality.
